If you're interested in becoming a trainer on Rover, you can sign up anytime and fill out the different sections at your own pace. You can do this whether you’ve been a sitter on Rover before or you’re creating a profile for the first time.
Note: We’re currently only accepting trainers in certain cities. If you don’t see this as an option when you sign up, we may not be offering training in your area right now.
- If this is your first time signing up to offer pet care services on Rover, visit Rover.com and select Become a sitter, then scroll down the page to select Get started.
For current sitters on Rover: You can sign up for training from your account by selecting Profile from the dropdown menu, then Dog Training.
- Select Dog Training and any other services you’d like to provide. Then select Save & Continue.
- Set your rates, availability, cancellation policy and service area.
- Then, fill out the following sections:
Note: If you’re already a sitter on Rover, some of these sections may be filled out.
Basic Info Fill out your address, add a profile photo and your age. Phone numbers Add your phone number and emergency contact info. Training education Fill out the name of the organization where you received your training certification or the type of certification you have. Training details Share more information about your training experience, including:
- Your chosen methodology
- Years of experience
- A headline and short summary for your profile
- Which skills and behaviors you train
Photos Add photos that will help owners learn more about you as a dog trainer.
If you’re already a sitter, photos will be taken from your sitter profile.
Review the photos on your profile to make sure that they’re relevant to all services you offer.
Request testimonials Reach out to past clients who can talk about their positive experiences with you as a pet care provider. Testimonials are a great way to build trust with future clients.
- Finally, pass a safety quiz and submit a background check. This will give owners further peace of mind when booking your services.
Each completed section will have a checkmark next to it so you can easily track your progress. Once you complete all of the steps, select Submit. This will alert our team that your profile is ready to review.
If you change and don't want to offer training on Rover, simply select I no longer want to provide Rover services at the bottom of the page.
Next Steps
- Keep an eye on your email—our profile experts may ask you to modify a few things to make your profile the best it can be.
- You should hear from us within 10 – 20 business days. We’ll notify you via email if your profile is approved.
- Once your profile is approved and you pass the background check, your services will be visible in the Rover marketplace and pet owners will be able to contact you.
FAQs
How much does it cost to sign up?
It’s free to sign up and there are no monthly fees. You are only charged when customers acquired on Rover book and pay for services.
What are Rover's fees?
When a dog parent books a service with you on Rover, a service fee is deducted from the booking.
Rover fees go towards marketing to pet parents to help you continually acquire new clients, site and app maintenance, 24/7 Rover Support for you and your clients, and much more to support your business.

How do I get paid for bookings?
When you create your profile, you'll be prompted to set up a payment method through our third party payment processor, Stripe.
Do I need to be credentialed?
Yes. Rover's marketplace is for credentialed dog trainers. Be sure to provide this information at signup so that your profile includes your education and certifications.
Can I say no to a customer request from Rover?
Yes, you choose which clients you want to book and you can always ask the customer for more information before making your decision. Either way, we simply ask that you respond to all booking requests so the dog parent knows if they should reach out to other trainers.
Can I stop if I want?
Yes, if Rover isn’t working for your business you can close your profile at any time.
