How does the dog walking map feature work?

Rover Cards give you the option to share updates with your clients through the Rover app.

The dog walking map works with the Rover Card, a feature that allows you to share your walking route with pet owners. You can also share information about pee, poo, food, and water activity during the walk.

The map includes:

  • The route
  • Total time
  • Distance of walk

How does it work?

When you begin a walk, you can tap Start in the Rover app. When you’re done, you can tap Stop to end the walk. During that time, your device will store data, which is used to create a Rover Card that is sent to the pet owner.

View maps from previous walks

You can find maps of past walks from the Rover app:

1. Tap More (or menu if you're using an Android device) then select Rover Cards.

2. Choose the booking you want to view walk details for.

In addition to the map of the route, you'll see a summary of all other activities that took place during the walk.

Privacy information:

  • The map feature is not a live tracking system. Data is stored on your device until you hit Stop to create the Rover Card you're sending to the pet owner.

  • Once the map is added to the Rover Card and sent to the pet owner, only the dog walker, pet owner, and Rover have access to it. This information is not made public.
