If you're interested in offering dog grooming services on Rover, you can sign up at any time and fill out the different sections at your own pace. You can do this whether you’ve been a sitter on Rover before or you’re creating a profile for the first time.
Note: Groomers on Rover are considered independent contractors. This means that you'll be running your own small business on Rover and won't be considered a Rover employee.
We're currently piloting grooming as a standalone service, which is available only in the following cities:
- Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellevue WA
- Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Tampa, St. Petersburg,
and Clearwater, FL - Chicago, Naperville, and Elgin, IL
- Charlotte, Concord, and Gastonia, NC
- Atlanta, Sandy Springs, and Roswell, GA
If you’re an existing sitter on Rover and don’t reside in one of these cities, you can still provide grooming as an add-on service to an existing booking.
What are the requirements to offer pet grooming on Rover?
Pet groomers must meet the following requirements before they can provide services on Rover:
- Pass a background check.
- Have at least 6 months of paid professional experience grooming other people’s pets.
- Include at least 1 set of before/after photos from your portfolio of work.
- Confirm you have your own grooming equipment.
- Request at least 1 testimonial from a client or a mentor.
- Pass Rover’s grooming safety quiz.
If you’re new to Rover, here's how to get started:
- Sign up to offer grooming here and click Get started.
- Select Grooming from the list of services, then tap Save & continue.
- Fill out the different sections to complete the profile submission process. You can complete each step at your own pace.
- When finished, hit Submit.
If you're already a sitter on Rover and would like to add grooming to your list of services, follow these steps:
- From the dropdown menu of your account, select Service settings, then Grooming. From the Rover app, tap Service settings > Add more services.
- Select Grooming, then Save & Continue.
- Fill out the different sections at your own pace to complete the profile submission process.
- When finished, hit Submit.

When will I know if my profile is approved?
- Keep an eye on your email—our profile experts may ask follow-up questions or provide suggestions on how to make your profile the best it can be.
- You should hear from us within 10 – 20 business days. We’ll notify you via email if your profile is approved.
- Once your profile is approved and you pass the background check, your services will be visible in the Rover marketplace and pet owners will be able to contact you.
When can I start booking with clients?
Soon! Right now, we're focused on groomers signing up to offer grooming as a standalone service. Once we have enough pet groomers, we plan to make this available to pet owners in May. We’ll let you know once pet owners can start booking with you.
