Updates to sitter payout options

Rover is in the process of changing the way sitters get paid on Rover. Now, you can receive payments securely to your bank account through Rover's new payment processor, Stripe. Payments will be deposited automatically into your bank account, so you no longer have to manually withdraw funds.

This will be the only available payout option soon, which means that PayPal and check payout methods will be discontinued after January 31st, 2022.

For more information about this change, check out the FAQs below. To get started, scroll to the bottom for instructions on how to set up payments on Rover through Stripe

FAQs

Will this change impact the timeline of when I’ll get paid?
Just like PayPal, your earnings will be automatically transferred to your bank account 2 days after you complete a booking. Depending on your bank, it may take a few more days to see the available funds in your bank account.

What information do I need to provide for direct deposit payouts?

You will need to provide your bank account number, routing number, and Social Security number (used to verify your identity).

Some of the information listed on your Rover account (name, email, phone number, address, and date of birth) will already be included when you sign up for Stripe. Please also review this information to make sure that the details—such as legal name—match what you would use on legal or government documents.

I have an available balance on my account. Can I withdraw available funds using my current payout method?
Yes. You can continue to withdraw available funds using the payout method currently on file with your account until January 31st. After this date, you'll need to connect your Rover account to Stripe to withdraw any remaining funds.

What happens if I started—but haven’t fully completed—setting up direct deposit on Stripe?
If you haven’t added all of the required information to receive payments via direct deposit, you won’t be able to book new services with clients. Make sure you’ve added and verified your personal details and your bank account information so you’re able to receive payments and book services.

We recommend having all of the required information ready before setting up your Stripe account. Please review the instructions below to see what information you’ll need in advance to complete this process.

Do I need to download the Stripe app to receive my payments? No, you only need to update your payout method from your Rover account.

Once I set up direct deposit through Stripe, can I switch back to PayPal or check?
Once you've started the process of signing up through Stripe, we'll disable the old payout method associated with your account. It isn't possible to revert to PayPal or check once you've signed up for direct deposit.

Keep in mind that once you start the process of setting up direct deposit, you will not be able to withdraw funds from your Rover wallet and will only be able to receive these payments through Stripe

Why don't I see the option to set up automatic payments?
With Stripe, funds will be automatically transferred to your bank account once they're released to your Rover account. You no longer need to opt into automatic payments, since this is the default way you'll receive funds going forward.

When do I need to change my payout method to Stripe?
To avoid any disruptions to getting paid, you'll need to sign up for direct deposit through Stripe by January 31, 2022.

What happens if I don't update my payout method by January 31st?
Old payout methods (PayPal and check) will be discontinued after January 31st, which means you won't be able to get paid until you update your payout method through Stripe. Once you set up direct deposit, any available funds will be transferred to your bank account.

Can I add a new PayPal account or check payout method between now and January 31st?
No, you won't be able to make any changes to your PayPal information on Rover or switch to check payments. The only change you can make at this time is signing up for direct deposit through Stripe.
