What information does Rover share?

Rover is committed to establishing a safe, worry-free environment that protects the privacy of sitters and pet parents alike.

For this reason, Rover uses relay numbers, before and after a service has been booked so that your actual phone number remains private. In some cases—when arranging a Meet & Greet, for example—a sitter or pet parent may choose to share an address or phone number before a service has been booked to ensure they're able to meet in person.

Even after the service has been booked, Rover maintains a strict policy. A sitter’s address will only be displayed if the service is scheduled to take place at the sitter’s home.

For more information about how information is shared, read our Rover Privacy Policy.

How to opt out of “selling” or “sharing”

If you’re a  U.S. resident, regardless of the state where you live, you can opt out of data “sales” or sharing of your personal information for “cross-context behavioral advertising” (also known as targeted advertising), as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (the “CCPA”). These terms are defined broadly by the CCPA and other privacy laws, and may include certain uses of cookies and other information disclosed to you in our Privacy Statement

To opt out of such data sales or sharing, you can update your preferences at any time by following the instructions below. You can also enable the Global Privacy Control setting on your browser.

  1. At the bottom of any page on Rover, select Your privacy choices.

  2. You’ll be taken to the relevant section of Rover’s Privacy Statement to learn more about your rights and how to opt out.

  3. From the Privacy Statement, click the Privacy Management Center button.

  4. Under the “Preferences” tab, use the toggle next to Targeted Advertising & Data Selling or Sharing to opt out.

  5. Hit Submit to save your preferences.

If you opt out of these choices, we won't share or make available personal information in ways that are considered a “sale” or “sharing” under the CCPA.  However, we’ll continue to make some personal information available to our partners (acting as our service providers) to help us perform advertising-related functions. Keep in mind that opting out of these choices won’t opt you out of previously “sold” or “shared” personal information or stop all interest-based advertising.
