Refunds vary depending on the sitter's cancellation policy and the cancellation date. Familiarize yourself with these policies before booking.
Types of cancellation policies
There are four types of cancellation policies: same day, one day, three days, and seven days. See Cancellation policy details below to learn more.
Viewing the sitter's cancellation policy
You may view the sitter’s cancellation policy on either the Rover app or a computer.
On the Rover app:
- Go to the sitter’s profile.
- Click the Services tab.
- Scroll to the calendar.
- Select a service to view its cancellation policy.
On a computer:
- Go to the sitter’s profile.
- Scroll to the Availability section.
- Under the calendar, view the services and their cancellation policies.

Same-day cancellation policy:
For Boarding and House Sitting:

Full refund if canceled before booking begins.

50% refund for the first 7 days if canceled after booking begins, 100% refund for remaining days.
For Walks, Day Care, and Drop-in Visits:

Full refund if canceled before booking begins.
One-day cancellation policy:

Full refund if canceled by 12:00 p.m. the day before the booking begins.
- 50% refund for the first 7 days if canceled later, 100% refund for remaining days.
Three-day cancellation policy:
- Full refund if canceled by 12:00 p.m. three days before the booking begins.
- 50% refund for the first 7 days if canceled later, 100% refund for remaining days.
Seven-day cancellation policy:
- Full refund if canceled by 12:00 p.m. one week before the booking begins.
- 50% refund for the first 7 days if canceled later, 100% refund for remaining days.
Note: All times are based on the sitter’s time zone.
Policy for late cancellations
- Refunds are based on the sitter’s cancellation policy and the date you cancel.
- To receive a refund for late cancellations, request the cancellation no later than 48 hours after the booking end date.
Cancellation policies for booking modifications
- Updating booking dates doesn’t automatically incur a cancellation penalty.
- Sitters may apply their cancellation policy to changes.
- Contact your sitter directly via Rover Messages for policies on modifications.
- Modifications to service type, stay length, or number of pets may affect the booking price.
