How do I contact pet owners using the mobile app?

Open communication is the key to any great relationship, which is why we’ve made it easy to keep in touch with pet owners using the Rover mobile app.

Messaging in the App

Once you’re in contact with a pet owner, typically after they’ve reached out to you, you can continue messaging with them in the Rover app. Here’s how:

  1. Tap Messages at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap the mailbox icon at the top left of your screen.
  3. Tap Pending for unbooked stays or walks, or Upcoming for booked stays that are upcoming or in progress.
  4. Tap the conversation you’d like to continue. You can write a message and attach photos or videos, then tap send.


Rebooking With a Past Client

Want to book again with a past client? You can easily initiate a new booking and send it to your client right from your Rover app. Here’s how:

  1. Tap Rebook at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Locate the pet owner you’d like to book with and tap Rebook.
  3. Edit the details, which may include the location of the booking, the service dates, and which dogs you’ll be watching.
  4. Add a message by tapping Message to Owner and then Save.
  5. Tap Send Inquiry.
  6. If you’re ready to book, tap Book It!


During a Walk, Drop-in, or Day Care Service

You can directly call the pet’s owner if anything comes up while tracking a walk, drop-in visit, or day care stay in the app. This is typically reserved for emergencies (i.e., “is it okay that Spot ate that?”), but it all depends on your relationship with your client.

Here’s how to get in touch while tracking a service:

  1. Tap Today at the bottom your screen.
  2. Tap the booking you’re tracking.
  3. Tap Call Owner.


Rover Tip: You can also tap Care Info to learn how the pet owner wants their pet(s) to be cared for.


Within the tracking feature, there’s also a direct line to Rover’s Trust & Safety team. They’re available 24/7 and are your go-to if an emergency arises or you’re concerned about the well-being of an animal in your care.

Here’s how to get in touch:

  1. Tap Today at the bottom your screen.
  2. Tap the booking you’re tracking.
  3. Scroll down, tap Call Rover.
