What can I do to ensure my dog will be safe?

As dog lovers and pet parents ourselves, we know your dog is a member of your family. Rest assured—pet safety is our top priority. Here are a few things you can do to help ensure your dog has a great time while you’re away:

  • Fill out your dog’s profile. These details are shared with your sitter or dog walker when you book with them. Be sure to include vet contact information, day-to-day care instructions, and any unique behaviors your dog has. Does your dog love carrots? Do they get a little separation anxiety? Do they insist on sleeping under the covers (yep, that’s a real request)? Give your sitter or dog walker the lowdown.
  • Have a Meet & Greet with your prospective sitter. Meeting your sitter or dog walker in person allows you to get to know them and make sure they get along with your dog (and with you). It also offers an opportunity to set clear expectations about your dog’s care while you’re away.
  • Communicate well and often with your sitter or dog walker. Make sure your sitter or dog walker knows how to contact you in case of an emergency or if questions arise. Let them know how often you’d like to get photo updates, too—adorable proof that your dog is having a blast.

We’ve got your back with 24/7 support, reservation protection, the Rover Guarantee, and verified reviews from pet parents like you.
